A couple red equitant oncidiums
A little fuzzy on the picture, but you should get the idea. Two from the same cross (I believe Orchidom Red Love x Aleka "Peaches"). One is the best red I have seen in a long time (concolor), it has two spikes bracketing the middle one, which has a very interesting pattern. A little fuzzy because I was posing it with my hand in a hurry this morning.

The concolor is VERY nice. I don't think I've seen an equitant with such rich orange red coloration in a nice concolor form. It's a keeper!

Hasn't been shown yet this year, and a lot more buds to come. I might exhibit it in Lansing, or wait a few more weeks and show it. Worth a look, at least.

Beautiful, I have a weekness for this colour. They remind me of red velvet curtains.

Nope, came in as part of a big wholesale order from Orchids Dominicana. A couple hundred plants, maybe 15 different crosses. It has probably already been named.

I looked up the pod parent and it's actually a Rodrummnia (rodriguezia x tolumnia) with the rodriguezia parentage pretty distant in the ancestry. It actually has 2 Rodriguezia species involved and one is Rdza. lanceolata which is basically a concolor red flower. I don't know how much effect this has, but the genetic material is there. Of course most of the Tolumnia parentage is pulchella and triquetra like most of them are...
I don't show the cross being named yet.....
