Default Onc. Twinkle soon to bloom!

My recuperating Onc. Twinkle has a spike! I think it's Red Fantasy, but the tag only says "Oncidium Twinkle".

Oddly enough, this was one of my first non-rescue orchids, and I nearly killed it. It was very underpotted and I let it get too dry. I didn't realize how much water a large Twinkle needs. I think it has nearly 2 dozen pbulbs, most of them are severely dwarfed, due to massive root loss from underwatering. I finally got the hang of it though, and it's got lots of new roots and a single little spike! Hey, it's a start!

Ok, so maybe I should have waited until it started blooming, or at least got closer to blooming, but I'm just too excited to wait!!

I'll post updates on this thread up through its blooming.

Awesome! The bulbs in the pic look nice and plump so you must not have messed up too badly with it. The thing about the spikes on these is that the spikes themselves grow very very quickly, but the buds take forever to form!
I have an onc similar to the twinkles, and two 12cm spikes popped up in the 10 days I was in France in april. That was quick! But they only just started blooming this past weekend.

Thanks everybody!

Camille, the bulbs are nice and plump, but all the ones that have grown since I got it have been about 1/3 the size of the ones it had when I got it. I'm hoping that once it gets a decent root system again, the pbulbs will increase in size again. Thanks for the warning about how slowly the buds form. I seem to have a lot happening around here at the moment, so I think I'll be able to wait without gnawing my fingernails completely off.

Default update, second spike

Just wanted to show the progress my Twinkle is making. It's sending up another spike, so there may even be more to come!

Default update

They're getting close! I can't wait for those cute little blooms to pop open. Although I am hoping for a bigger show next year, I'm just so happy that my Twinkle has finally recovered enough to give me these precious few blooms!

Thanks Sheridan and Nick! The first flower opened today! The scent is just starting to kick in, but even the tiny wiff I got was sooo sweet!
