Default First ever miltonia spikes!

When I first started to grow orchids a few years ago - I fell in love with miltonias - love the pansy faces!
Tho they grew for me I never got any blooms

So tried a new location this year - et voila!

This is a noid plant from trader joes

I think they are getting a bit more light now - moved from back patio - which only gets hit with late afternoon sun for a short while - to front porch which gets early morning sun probably for a bit longer. The only other difference is they are potted in cocohusk chips were as previously I had used fir bark.

That's great that you have a spike! It good that you found what the problem was! Usually when I have an orchid which refuses to bloom, the first thing I do is give it more light, and that usually helps. What color is this one going to be?
My mother has been wanting a pansy orchid for a while now, so I think that I will get her one for Mothers Day in two weeks.

Very good idea for a gift Camille - your mother will love it!

Well now that I have milt spikes I can allow myself to get more of them

I had four pansy orchids. I recently received another as a gift. It is blooming now. So lovely. That will make a wonderful gift for your mother, Camille! That purple is gorgeous.
