Default Care of Odontoglossum hallii

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for being so nice to me on these first days of being suscribed to OB. Ive been growing a Odontoglossum hallii for around 3 months now and when i got it it was in flower and now the new growth is about 15 cm tall. I really dont want to kill it! It is the first species that i have gotten and if you can give me advise on growing it, it would be great. There is one problen but it is very very light. I am starting to see some pleating on the new growth. What is the best way to fix this?

Thanks to All!

That's correct. It needs more water or stated a little differently, it's not taking up enough water. This could be because you don't water it enough or it could be because you water it too much. Let me explain.

If you consistently overwater an orchid, you will destroy its' root system. Then, the plant can't take up any water because it has no roots.

I would sneak a peak at the roots. If they're okay, you need to water it more often. If they're not okay, you need to repot the plant, increase the humidity and grow some roots.

What you describe is a common problem in Oncidiums, Odontoglossums and Miltonias etc.

Carl

If you go to the American Orchid Society's website you can download a care sheet for free. Look under orchid information, then culture sheets. Carol
