Default Getting more than one spike per PB

I'm curious if there's a trick to it, or if it's just luck of the draw.

I have a Colmanara Wild Cat which has a large spike right now. It's only a 3 PB division, and was purchased in spike last Summer as a 2 PB plant, but had two large spikes from one PB. This year it's just one spike on the new PB.

Was there something that made it happy enough to bloom, but not happy enough for two spikes this go-round? It is potted in bark, and was re-potted right after it finished blooming last Summer.
