My growing Tolumnia collection

Ethan I love your Tolumnia's I have 4 and my Genting Volcano is reblooming on the same spike. I did a bad thing on the Genting Pink Lady she was blooming when I got her and cut the spike when it was done blooming. I found out later not to cut the spike as they might rebloom and mine did.

I am going to by more of those little gems......

It appears there is an endless number of Tolumnia hybrids out there and there are some that are soooo beautiful - really intense color combinations. Unfortunately (or luckily) they don't seem to be readily available at the garden centers or orchid shows.

The best part is they are so tiny...I just hang them from my ficus tree and they don't take up any room (not that I have any extra room).

Ethan, they are all soo beautiful that I would have a difficult time if I had to select only one. I have 3 blooming now but will buy a couple more if I see them. I just bought more vandas,(/2 price), wish they came in smaller sizes with the same size flowers. I think I should switch my wishes to tolumnia.

I just bought 200 tolumnia hybrids... I think 11 different crosses. Someday I'll get around to listing them on the website.

They are beautiful, I bought three little plants off Ebay and found out on here (;-) thank guys) they are tolumnias , they were listed as oncidiums they are all tsiku 'vanessa' and they are meant to be 3 different colours one has an old flower spike on so I am glad I havent cut it but at the moment they have new growth but no sign of the desired flowers.

Nick - you just need to break down and get some tolumnias - you've been talking about it for soooooo long!!!! I know how much you love them!! *enabler speaking, here*

Carrie - Yes, I learned from OB (thanks, guys!) never to cut a tol. spike...the one I got in Jan is still in full bloom as you can see and is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon!

Little Frog - 200?!?!?!?!? I can't even imagine! That'll be a sight when they're all in bloom!

Marilyn - Awww, wouldn't it be great if there were a Vanda that was Tolumnia size?? Wow, just to think about it!!

I have about 10 in bloom right now (not from the 200). And I've won a couple AOS awards for tolumnias and a whole lot of trophies. They grow well for me.

In an ideal world I'll sell about 180 of those 200. *grin* In the real world I'll keep more than I should and have to build another greenhouse.

It is nice to see that others are interested in equitants as well. They've been around for a long time, but not as popular as they should be. Perhaps they are finally getting some recognition.

Lovely Tolumnias.

What really cheered me up this morning is the tall bromeliad in the background. It reminds me of Billbergia zebrina I used to have many years ago before I left for college. You have quite a selection of exotics there which makes your photos more interesting.
