Default *Update* Odontonia Yellow Parade 'Alpine'

I posted some photos of this when the first spike opened it's flowers and someone said they wanted to see what they looked liked when they faded to their paler yellow color. The second spike just started opening so I thought it would be a good comparison...I was shocked at the drastic change in color - I see why they call it 'alpine'!

First two photos: New spike
Second two photos: Old spike

Wow, that is so cool that it changes color! I always see pics of the yellow blooms of this plant, and always wondered where the heck the name 'Alpine' came from. Now I know!

What a spectacle!

Your conditions must be optimal. When I bought mine the flowers did not last long enough to go through that phase.

Thanks, guys!

Yes, I love me a color changing orchid - it's like a 2 for 1.

When I first got this plant it only had one bloom left and it was old (discount rack). When it rebloomed I was shocked at how dark yellow the flowers were...I didn't remember them being that dark. Now I know why!!
