Miltoniodes reichenheimii
Not exactly an oncidium, but it's close. The flowers are just now beginning to open--after having taken an exceedingly long time to develop (the spike started growing at the beginning of last November!). Only two of the twenty buds have opened so far, but they're very nicely fragrant and consist of an interesting combination of colors. The spike itself is nearly 4 feet long. This species is native to the highlands of Mexico and likes cool and dry winters, coupled with warm summers.

Spectacular! Too bad I don't have room for a spike that large. This is one of those orchids that really catches my eye. I love the patterns and colors!

It is a beautiful species! We have here something very similar, the rare Miltonia kyasimae, which also has those dark stains.

Wonderful! I love the long spike, it's going to be a show stopper when fully open.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments.
Evan, only the spike is long and unwieldy. The plant itself is nicely compact and shouldn't be much of a problem for you if you're needing to save space. You could also stake the spike to keep it vertically oriented rather than be lazy like me and allow it to develop as it pleases.
