Odontonia Yellow Parade 'Alpine'
Odtna. Yellow Bird x Odm. Parade
I just love this guy...I got him on the discount rack last summer for only a few bucks and it rebloomed for me!!! YAY!!! hehe...I don't usually have very good luck with the Oncidium alliance.
I love yellow orchids anyway, but I really like these blooms...there are four flowers on the one spike about 3-4" each, and another spike developing with 4 more buds! I think I'm starting to get things right! WHOO HOOOO!!!

Thanks, guys! I appreciate your compliments. I'll post some more photos when the second spike opens...If I remember correctly the yellow fades to a really pale yellow with age, which is really pretty...maybe this is where the 'Alpine' comes from?

Great job Ethan!!! You are having better luck than me with the Onc alliance plants. Mine always hate me.
I love the blooms, I have a soft spot for yellows.

What a beauty, you must be doing something very right, I have just got an Oncidium ornithorhychum and really do hope one day it will bloom for me and if it is half as beautiful as yours I will be one very happy person.

Thanks, guys!
Camille, I have killed several oncidiums by overwatering and giving them root rot. I have learned that in my particular growing conditions, their potting medium likes to be fairly coarse, I can't use ANY sphag. moss because it stays wet too long, and I have to let the mix dry out completely before I water again. Whether that helps you or not, I don't know, but it's worked for my yellow parade!!
Playtime, what color are the flowers on a Oncidium ornithorhychum? I hope it does bloom for you and that you post pictures!!
