Hello!
I am an excited, relatively new orchid owner! I obtained this Oncidium as a "rescue orchid" (see pics below). I repotted it when I got in in a pure bark mixture, cut off all the dead roots, and was left with only 3 white, firm roots underneath the newer growth, none underneath the pseudobulbs. I watered it well using the "bucket soak" method at an attempt to firm up the pseudobulbs, then I was told to not water it for around a month to encourage root growth, which I have done. When I soaked it however, the pseudobulbs firmed up a little, but were still pretty wrinkly.
The pseudobulbs to me, look very shriveled again and I am thinking about fertilizing it the next time I water.
I am wondering what type of fertilizer Oncidium orchids enjoy.
I also have this plant in my front window which delivers direct/dappled sunlight to the plant for around 1-2 hours; I have read Oncidiums may not enjoy full sun, but bright direct sun.
Any additional tips are incredibly welcome! I am super excited and love reading Orchid Board....you may say that eventhough I only have 1 orchid, I am already hooked!
Thanks for your help, in advance!
Danielle
