Default Psychopsis and pressure to bloom

This is the second attempt this plant made to rebloom from a cut flower stem. Flower stem was cut to encourage new growth before the Winter after it was transplanted 9 months ago. The first branch it put out below the cut was also cut off.

I have only seen this persistence to boom with one other orchid, Howeara Lava Burst.

Beautiful butterfly! If I were you I would not cut the spike. It will make new growth in due time. I thought the same thing of my plant and guess what - I picked it up yesterday and it is making a new growth.
