[QUOTE=EdinAZ;194924]I have about a dozen (different) of these, and they bloom "whenever" through the year. They put on a great, long-lasting show for such a small plant.

Could you share your culture techniques?

Something to consider before ordering. Tolus are one of those plants that vary wildly in color among the same hybrid. They're really something you should pick out in person when they're in bloom to get exactly what you're hoping for.

I like how they vary. It makes the plant more personal.

Besides, what better excuse to order a whole bunch so that you know you'll get some that you like? If there are any you don't like (AS IF!!! ) you can give them away, sell them, or trade them to people who don't have tolumnias, or want more!

Beautiful little things. I love them. I will post pictures when mine start blooming. They are all in spike but no flowers yet.

They are in a greenhouse, summer temps 65-85, winter temps 60-80, humidity usually around 60-75%, light "moderate to high" (don't have a f.c. reading, but they DO like light), watered once a week plus during the summer often an additional watering w/ fertilizer the day after the weekly waterings (they like to dry out a bit, and this gives them almost week to do it). Good air circulation (I have several fans, and it's a amall space).

Mine have been pretty hardy and dependable. I think the main factors are good light, and let them dry out between waterings.

Really, all my different orchids get pretty much the same culture. Those that want less light, I put down low, etc., but I only water once a week (it's automatic, overhead spray), and have a once a week fertilizer dose during the summer for everything. They have to adapt (and I'm surprised by how many different kinds of orchids have adapted to these "standard" conditions.

Hope this helps.

Ed
