Default A Psychopsis with the will to survive

A few weeks ago I was excited to discover 2 new growths on my poor Psychopsis. She was just moments away from being tossed in the can. Before discarding her, I decided take and examine some close-up photos. Since then, with the camera's assistance, I've been checking on her weekly progress. She now has 4 new growths and it looks like she's going to survive. I'm so happy.

Right on! So, I'm no expert, but are you going to let the new sprouts grow big and then divide the plant? Someone told me the psychopsis hates being divided. I'm just curious!
Congrats,

That is so cool! That plant really does look dead, but there are all the growths peeking out. I'm always amazed at how much will to live ochids have. When I see this type of amazing recovery it makes me think twice about tossing out any dead looking orchids I have!

Nope, no division planned for this one. I'm just happy it's trying to survive. If it ever begins to thrive I might consider mounting it. Other OB posters have said they do well mounted.

If it weren't for the close-up photos I would never have seen the new growth because they were so tiny. I will make close-up photography a part of my regular routine before tossing any sickly plants. You just never know what might happen. I have another really sick looking chid. It's a Den. Frosty Dawn, and I think it's toast, but plan to keep checking for signs of life for the next few months. You just never know!

Once I threw into the basement what I thought was a dead orchid in its pot. I was amazed 6 months later to see a little green growth. They really are much tougher than they look.

YAY! another prime example of... don't throw it away until it's been good and dead for a darn long time!

The new growth look healthy.

Do you still have a leaf left on one of the pseudobulbs? In that case, I would think one of the growths may even turn out to be a flower spike.

Wow, another "little miracle". I would have thrown it too. I have a Catt that I'm doing much the same thing with. It sure looks like a gonna but I'm keeping it watered (very, very little) in the hopes *something* will come of it.
