Great orchid! But I doubt this is one I will get, since it doesn't smell so great. My dorm is only one room, so I don't feel like sharing my airspace with stinkers!

Dear Ron,

I can't remember if I ever smelled B. brachiata. The true B. verrucosa has the aroma of black pepper. I just had the opportunity to smell a Maxillaria "variabilis" with the same odor - while true M. variabilis and its other relatives have no odor.

Brassia flowers are pollinated by wasps so they don't have the sweet fragrances of say a Cattleya which attract bees.
