Really Pretty. I love all brassia types for the most part. I like how distinct the pattern is against the background. Good growing!

Hello Everyone!

I am new to the Orchid world and just wanted to say,

As a the new guy on the block, how much water should my Bob Henley get and I also have the orchid in a southern facing window with no cross ventilation. The leaves of the plant are closest to the window while the blooms face into the kitchen. Is the preferred way? The simple care tips, recommend indirect light... but what is exactely considered indirect light? Also, how much H20 should I give? ...all these ?'s

and an over abundane of info on the web, lead to one confused orchid owner!

Indirect light is no sun shining right on to the plant.

there are different levels of indirect light also

Very Bright indirect-- hold your hand in front of a flat surface and you will see a shadow but no sharp defined edge on the shadow.

brighit light a little fuzzier shadow.

semi shade a indistinct shadow but still a shape.

shade no real shape but maybe a dim shape but just a dim blob at most.

I have no exp with this type of chid so other than that I can not help much

I haven't grown this specific genus, but in general I have found morning or afternoon light to be good for oncidium alliance plants. I think in winter a south window may have too strong light, but as the sun is getting higher in the sky - maybe not.
Generally for Oncidium alliance plants I keep them from drying out completely, but I think Brassia likes to get a bit dryer ...
Maybe someone with more experience with Brassia x can help more - sorry

Beautiful flowers! I can't wait for my Fangastic to bloom! Mine is mounted so I water it daily but I have a few other Brassia hybrids that are potted and I let them come close to drying before watering again. I keep mine outside on a covered lanai and they get morning sun through screen. Hope this helps!
