Default oncidium Sharry Baby -finally bloomed

I just had to share my new bloom! I got this at the end of august. In mid september it started putting a spike out and some of the flowers have just opened (yesterday & today)! The spike was jutting out & was growing out at 90° - I therefore 'helped' it by putting a small piece of polystyrene to open up the leaf...as you can see it grew straight!
It's just starting to get fragrant !! - smells very nice although... have not 'whiffed' the chocolate scent yet?

Good photo! Perfect timing to get you into the holiday spirit. Now you just have to train it to keep this great blooming cycle.

Fragrance usually takes a few days to develop. No point in attracting pollinators before the plant is fertile.

Looks great Nenella! The spike grew nice and straight. I'm been trying to find one, since I love anything chocolate. For now I have Onc Rosy Sunset, which is supposed to smell like chocolate (but not as nice as sharry baby) so I can't wait for it to spike!

Very nice. I have Sharry Baby Tricolor and I really like yours too. Just wait until it starts to get fragrant! What a delight. I took mine into work for a week and could smell it all day long! Heaven.... Enjoy yours!
