I see there are already a couple of posts on, " Can I cut a healthy flower spike which is just finishing the last of it's flowering and get another smaller branch, off the same spike?", short of like some Phala's.
here is more info that may help you, in sharing with me an answer:
- it is a Sweet Sugar
-firm bulbs (no pun needed) , basically the plant is in "good shape", health wise
-got this $35 orchid for $5 @ H. Depot, cause it had lost most of the flowers,
(side note: plus they had several more that i would have taken, but they had put them outside (duh),
I live in the lower mainland of BC, Canada, where it now gets to a high during the day of maybe 13 C which is somewhere around, 53 F and at night down to 5-8 C)
moving on...
-i am either going to do A or B or both
A- repot the orchid before bring it anywhere near my other orchids, and/or
B-take the orchid out of the plastic pot to check for bugs, root rot, whatever, you name it
- it will be going under 1 48" F40T10 ( yes, i did say T10) with supposedly 5500K and CRI 85 made by Duro-Test and a F40T12 P&A (plant light, which means nothing really when talking about c.f.)
and hopefully by the end of the week 2 24" F25T5...but it with actually only be under the one of the T5
So, back to the question i started with:
Can I cut a healthy flower spike which is just finishing the last of it's flowering, back to the first nod before the flowering branches start and get another smaller branch, off the same spike?
PS. It's a long shot at best, i know. I would rather just repot the plant ( not that i don't think H. Depot people don't know what there doing..
)
