Oncidium varicosum var. baldwin
The variety is well-known for its color contrast. My plant is too young now and has few flowers on the spike. Hope it will have good performance next time.

Hi Pheli!
Congrats! Oncidium varicosum is usualy hard to grow and it's a very demanding plant; It likes to be mounted or to grow in living trees.
Name correction: 'Baldin' (not Baldwin) is the clonal name, not variety name; the correct name would be Oncidium varicosum var. rogersii 'Baldin' (after Felício Baldin, who discovered this clonal variety in the nature; Baldin found a single plant in Serra do Japi, São Paulo, and it was cloned in Japan; Eric Christenson considered it a different species and named it Oncidium insigne)

Thanks for the information, Frederico.
As a matter of fact, I killed a plant of Onc. varicosum last year. The plant turned brown and then died in several days after a typhoon hit here.
I will pay much attention to this plant. Hope it does well here.

The intensity of the colouring is fantastic! If you get a bigger display of flowers next time it will be very impressive.
