Psychopsis Papilio var. Alba - new growth or spike? (pic)
I recently got this Psychopsis and it has since put out some new growth. I'm wondering - do you think this is a spike?? The plant is still quite small in a 2" pot, but it has about 2 full bulbs and a couple smaller ones. This growth is coming from the base of the largest PB.
I vote for new growth too. It is just as well to build strength before the almost continuous bloom cycle begins . You are lucky to have such a healthy looking plant. I had a lot of trouble with weak albas before and have yet to see anything as good as yours.
Thank you guys!! I've never had this type of orchid before, so wasn't sure what to expect. I'm just happy it's growing & I'm not killing it! Haha. I can wait for the blooms, I'm patient (sometimes)

It is without a doubt a new PB shoot. The flower spike will come out the top after the bulb matures. Afterwards never cut the flower spike afterthe flower dies off. It will continue every two-four weeks with another flower where the first fell from. I have four of them and have had at least two flowers continually for the past two years.
