Default Find of the Day

I was walking through Lowe's today looking for various items, when I wondered past the orchid section. I normally don't bother because I do not care for Phals too much. However, a group of oncidiums caught my eye. Most were out of bloom, so I asked the vendors who happened to be there for a discount. They marked down the plants from $25 to $2.29. I bought two:

Brassia Eternal Wing Hawaii
Aliceara Sunday Best 'Muffin" HCC/AOS

Both have significant new growth and the Aliceara has a new spike.

What a great deal, Doug! They should be really nice plants, especially the HCC. Will look forward to pics.

Sheridan next time you are in Medford, check out Lowes. They do have lovely orchids. It isn't that far.

Wow, now that is what I call a good buy. Sure wish the Lowes here would get in a good selection, although they manage to over water them and within a couple of days they aren't worth buying.

Our local Home Depot doesn't water the orchids in a bag at all apparently. They are all looking very sad. No sale prices yet either.

I've never seen my local Home Depot put orchids on a sales rack. As far as I've been told they just throw them away which is really sad when they can actually have a second chance.

Yes its sad, Home depot doesnt bother to sell their orchids once they fade they just go through once a month and toss what isnt blooming. If you speak directly with a manager though sometimes you can work out a deal, I bought twenty eight plants for three bucks each from my local HD some were perfectly healthy and begining their second spike but they still wanted to throw them out.
