I've heard of others getting good deals for the big box stores but I guess luck isn't on my side. Ours only has phals. and dead baggies. Good going Doug. wish you luck with them.

Yeah Leslie, go check it out. I was in our local Lowes last weekend and was amazed to find some beauties in there. Didn't buy any though sorely tempted, because I know I have a box full coming from Hausermann's (c'mon UPS!). I can only stand so much guilt.

Wow! Great Job! My local Lowes and Home Depot will not discount there Orchids because they are maintained by the vendor. What doesn't sell goes back to them. Home Depot only pay's the vendor for what they sell. Too Bad!!

Alot of the HDs or Lowes get to send back the plants out of bloom and only pay for the ones they sell. So it is of no benefit to them to sell them at a discount. The local Lowes that I check out weekly either completely forgets to water the 'chids or overwaters and they may have beautful blooms, but I am always afraid they may not re-bloom for a loooong time. I also get frustrated because they lose the tags alot. THe last time I checked they had some Paph's (I already have it), but there was so much variation in them, but they were all tagged the same!

I did get a Asc there once though because it had been put out of the way on a rack that is the same kind they use for the sale rack. I told the cashier it was on one of the sale racks, but did not specify the sale, and she marked it down 50%! Yippee! That usually doesn't happen for me though!

It was the vendor that discounted them, not Lowe's. I may stop by today to check and see if the other 5 Oncidiums were bought.
