May I join the club too? Mine just opened today after a winter-long wait. I thought it would never bloom but once it decided to do so it marched right along. I also have a Papillio Mendenhall 'Hildos' that looks like it is trying to get going. Happy Psychopsis blooms

OOH, I'll have to show my 'Hildos' your message. Maybe that will get it going.

Woops! A little confusion, probably on my part. The plant I have that is blooming is a papillio. The one that is not yet blooming is a 'Hildos'.
Anyway, when the papillio opened a couple of days ago the dorsal sepals were curled under and I thought hmmm, is it going to stay that way? I'm happy to report that today the one and only flower is fully open. Tomorrow when I have good light, I need to photograph it just for my own records. I am sure there are plenty of good, professional photos of the flower out there without mine.

The little bud on my 'Hildos' blasted today. Oh well, I'll enjoy the papillio for now.

My Psp. Mariposa var alba currently has two spikes and flowers, the Mendenhall has one spike and is starting a flower....but the big boss, Psp. Butterfly has five existing spikes (of which three split into two buds each), and it is currently putting out two new spikes (which are about 18" and 9"). It is a rare occasion that all of these spikes have a flower simultaneously, but when they do.....it's quite the show. Now, with the two new spikes, it should be attempting at least ten simultaneous flowers this summer. Mine just started blooming in the spring....I've come to the conclusion that my feeding schedule induces a little dormant period on them. Which I don't mind, because it seems to grow more spikes every year. I'm sure a little rest can't hurt.

It's just starting to wake up, but I'll post some when it fills up.
