That's just awesome! WOW!

I agree with Thakshila...pinch the end of one spike and see if you can kick-start some blooming action

Gotta be willing to experiment a bit once in a while
The worst that could happen would be that the spike you pinch off won't grow any longer than it is...the best would be blooms!

Please keep us updated...we love the odd stuff like this

Talking oncid spike

hi glad to hear the worlds longest spike bloomed! my oncid bloomed last febuary, i bought it in bloom, its outside since were in early fall i think the night temps being low have caused a new spike to grow, its almost 16" now, it has a real small fishbone fan about 1/2'' or less wide, i hope its blooms, how did you get yours to bloom? did you try the pinch that the member above told you about? did that cause the blooms? what do you think caused it to bloom ?
