Angry My Sharry Baby Has Some Issues...

Hi!

I bought a Sharry Baby Oncidium about a year and a half ago for Christmas... it had long beautiful stems with crazy, stuning flowers, bringing a beautiful chocolaty scent into my living room every afternoon... The thing is... they lasted for about a month and than ever since, the health of my orchid went pretty much downhill: every new growth of an eventual pseudobulb got avorted, certain leaves became yellow, the bulbs where shrivelling-unshrivelling eaven though I watered them regularly, I heard it requiered a lot of sun, so in the summer I put it outside on my veranda and it started to turn very pale green, so I moved it a little away in a slightly shadier spot, than it turned very dark green... eventually fall came and it went back into the house... during the winter it lost a couple more leaves and by spring I found a scale farm living on it.

Arrrg!!!!

I'd like to have it bloom again but I don't know what to do with it anymore!

Here are a couple of pictures of its state today!

Thanks!!!

Barb

Hi Barb. Is that sphagnum you have it planted in. Looks pretty jammed in to me, maybe not getting enough air??? Try looking at the roots, see what condition they are in.

Your plant doesn't look too bad, Barb, but I agree with Lecent about the sphag. I would repot it into a more open medium to let the roots breath a bit more.

I'd repot it in a fir bark mixture. Other than that, it looks OK.
