Default Colm. Wildcatastrophe Update

Last November I told you about my Wildcat 'Bobcat' that tangled with my new cat, and lost. This time around, no cat, and a totally different story. It now has three spikes, the tallest being 43 inches tall. The first spike has 8 side branches, and 47 flowers. The second, 10 branches, with 62 flowers and buds, the third, 9 branches with 48 buds, so far. I've NEVER had an orchid do this before!
The first pic is last year's 8 flowers, and the second, the whole thing this time. It isn't the best foto I've taken, but it's a huge plant, and I have a small camera.
No kitty fettuccine this time.

Kim

I've got one of these babies, only got it 3 weeks ago and its 1/4 of the size of yours. I only hope mine will be so stunning when it grows up!

Just beautiful!!! I can't believe how many spikes and blooms you have! I love the color, it's so pretty. I still have a phal that one or more of my three cats used as a play toy a couple years back. I discovered the poor thing behind my plant stand a few days later completely out of its pot all dried up. It's doing great now (no spike yet though) but still has all it's chewed up leaves. I can't wait until it gets big enough to drop those! Darn cats!

Very nice indeed. Love the deep color. I have a Wildcat with only 3 little pseudobulbs and I noticed yesterday that a spike is appearing. Can't wait to see the color, as a division was given to me last fall and first time blooming.

Thanks guys. No scent on this one, (... ...), by the way, doesn't that mean (s s) in morse code?
Sarah, I feel your pain. I have a bunch with scratches, teeth marks, and chewed roots. I figure they're just battle scars, and it seems to build stamina and character.

So true Kim! It's amazing how quick a cat can notice an innocent orchid sitting in a vulnerable position! I have left the room for literally 30 seconds and returned to find a cat happily chewing off a whole leaf! And this has happened more than once and often to orchids I have just received in the mail. I never learn my lesson!
