Default The Butterfly Is Back!

This is the second bloom of the year for this beauty. Measuring about 5" tall (from lip to tip), Psychopsis Mariposa (papilio x Kalihi 'Green Valley') towers over the rest of the plants on the table, on a 24" spike.

Jasen, I really like the form on your flower. I've seen some that looked lopsided. Yours is nice and symetrical and I love the dorsal color. Very very nice. Sure wish I had room for one of these!

They are not hard to grow, although very rewarding. I have this one in a pot, and I have Psychopsis Butterfly (sandarae x papilio)mounted. The Butterfly Is Back!-psychopsis-butterfly-papilio-sandarae-jpg They are both in medium light, and they both grow very well. Psychopsis Butterfly just finished growing a new pseudobulb, so hopefully that one will be blooming again soon. The great part is, they will bloom for months from the same spike...one right after the other!

Stunning bloom. I saw one up close and personal at an orchid show yesterday and pictures don't do them justice.

I am sooo impressed! Yours really does have great color and form! And must be so happy in your conditions.

Mine is still doing nothing exciting. . .I have gotten a few new leaves and pseudobulbs but NO spikes yet.

I think we're going to have to have a little talk.
