Oncidium with small white dots on leaves
Default Oncidium with small white dots on leaves

Hello All,
About a year ago I received an oncidium as a gift. After the flower spike died off, I placed it near a window intending to throw it out because in the past they've just never done well for me. i assumed it was a humidity issue. But this one seemed to thrive on neglect, and now has a lovely spike in full bloom and aside from a couple of leaves with minor pleating looks very happy. However, some of the leaves have small white dots that look almost like mold. I've never seen anything like it before. And if it's a disease or pest would like to get rid of it before it takes over. Any suggestions on what it is and how to address it appreciated. Photos attached

Does it wipe off easily? In the photo it almost looks like hard water residue, but if it is powdery, could be a pathogen (insect, etc). You could spray with some soapy water, then wipe, and spray again. That should get anything that isn't firmly attached.
