New addition- Odcdm Wild Willie ‘Pacific Bingo’…

Hello all! Sometimes it’s hard to pass up a pretty orchid. So I made a new addition cause I thought this Wild Willie was very pretty. I just started reading about it but can’t find much about the care of this plant. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I have it right there in the window with my other Phals, Oncidiums, and a Brassavola, which all seem to be thriving. All I have found so far is that this one, “likes to dry out a bit.” So do I water it like my oncidiums twice a week, or once like my phals and brassavola? Thanks again!

If it helps at all, this one used to be a Colmanara (Miltonia x Oncidium x Odontoglosum.) Everything got lumped into Oncidum. I'd water it like an Oncidium, it likes to be on the damp side. (the "dry out a bit" I'd interpret with caution) So damp not soggy, but never really dry out.

Essentially all intergeneric Oncidium hybrids need to stay moist. If they don't get enough water, developing leaves develop horizontal pleating.

Most continue to grow and flower all year if temperatures and light are correct. Some are more heat-tolerant than others. Almost all can be grown easily in most homes.

Problems generally arise from spider mites during warm, arid weather, insufficient watering or too much heat for the less tolerant ones.

Most are fairly large plants that soon are difficult to accommodate on a windowsill. But there are a few small ones, including Oncidium Twinkle and Howeara Lava Burst

What happened to the Colmanara by the way?
Are they just called Odontocidium now and lumped in with the oncidiums as you put it? Someone in another feed of mine mentioned a Colmanara Tropic Black

With the lumping of genera, "Colmanara" is no more. Depending on the exact species used in the mix, they could be Oncostele (as in what used to be Colm. Wildcat) or Onc. Wild Willie (that used to be Colm. Wild Willie)

Also, when would be a ggod time to repot this plant?
Right now it is in bloom. The square green plastic pot it came in is tight, almost bulging it is either so full of roots and media. I read that orchids like to be crowded
and I will wait and enjoy the blooms of course.
I think you have told me to wait till spring or let the plant tell me when it has new growth.

Let the plant tell you when it is ready... when you see new growth (which will also produce new roots). Don't worry about the tight pot... orchids do like "tight shoes". When you do repot, just rinse off the old medium that comes off easily, don't worry about what might be stuck on. Favor root-preservation.

Never repotted it. Now look at it go! One spike probably 14” tall and another on the way! I love this orchid! Pretty much any orchid that spikes for me I love!
