Thought I’d share this crazy beast of a plant. I’ve made a couple posts about it over the years and somehow have managed to keep it alive.
I’ve lost track of how old this plant is but I know I purchased it as a single pseudo bulb at a show around 5 years ago.
It’s by far the easiest houseplant I own. It likes anything but direct mid day sun.
It’s pseudo bulbs shrivel to about half their size and that’s when I water it, the next day they will be lovely and plump again.
I tried to count bulbs on this but honestly I kept getting confused as they are very tight and many are on top of each other. I think maybe around 24 bulbs and with this 24 bulbs I have 16 fully formed flower spikes and at any point in time around 5 flowers open at a time, sometimes if I’m lucky a few more. I didn’t realize for the longest time how lovely and strong the scent of this is in the mid morning sun. I can only liken it to floral and honey.
I hope to eventually be able to take this guy to a show(if we ever have one around here again). I’m not sure it is the highest quality plant but it sure is vigorous and makes me happy.
