Default Oncidium Twinkle care colab

watching the latest video from ninja, she mentions a care colab which she does from time to time and I never paid too much attention to what they were doing but every year a little group shares updates on certain plants they are growing. It's brilliant if you are growing that plant too as you can compare what other growers around the world are doing with theirs.

There's growers from the us, from australia, the uk, spain finland etc although it is a very small group but I don't have the time to look through all the video's....... A lot of talking but if anyone is interested, care colab on oncidium twinkles from today:

My twinkle is about to pop with 6 spikes. I water it so much that the besgrow sphagnum moss came back to life. Wonderful little hybrid.

There's about 6 more videos SP.. I didn't link them all. IF you click on any of them, then on the #carecollab in the title it sends you to the other videos.

The reason this caught my attention. I noticed some people have tried to do care colabs in the past but clearly many people have the twinkle.

It is an adorable orchid that has a firm place in my collection by now

Claw, glad you have one too and no surprise to hear yours are doing well. I hope we can see the flowers.

Mine are not ready yet either but I'll post a pic when the flowers are open.

I was really hoping they would open by x-mas but it is cutting it very close now. We are soo close to opening here.

I will post when it flowers if I remember but the biggest downside to Twinkle imo is the torturous wait for the spikes to bloom. Takes forever compared to most other orchids

Thanks for mentioning that Shade! Will look at those ones too. I really like twinkles as well. The 'Fragrance Fantasy' one really does get a unmistakeable vanilla smell'. I first read people describing it. And after taking a whiff ...... I know what they mean! Thanks again Shade! Much appreciated.

Hahaha! True! It takes ages. Months maybe. My trick now is to treat a spiked twinkle like an ordinary non-flowering orchid. And pay no attention to it ..... except for regular care haha.

yeah guys you should see my chytroglossa aurata which is producing a spike. Now that is slow.

The twinkles take about 3 months which I don't think is too bad once you are used to it and I am expecting about 60 buds this year.

On my chytroglossa it's been the same wait, the flowers are the same size and I am getting a whopping 2 off that one heehee. Now that feels like a long wait for seemingly little at the moment!
