re potting Miltonia

Hello everyone,
I have had this miltonia for 3 years now. It has bloomed well but need to re pot it I am in the U.K so winter now. What would be best medium to repot it. how much should I leave on each new plant.

What a beauty! For repotting, wait until you see new growth starting. If you want to divide it, the more growths in each division the better. I that you might get two plants out of it, but don't be more aggressive than that unless it falls apart. Divisions with less than 3-4 good, firm pseudobulbs are going to be weak. It does need to stay on the moist side, so either fresh sphagnum, or small bark. Bark dries faster, so needs more frequent watering (which I think is a good thing... when you water and let water run through the pot, you are pulling air into the rood zone) Which you choose depends on your conditions, and how often you are able to water.

I agree with the above. The horizontal pleating in the leaves shows you haven't been watering enough. I'm not sure, but it appears the plant is making new growths from the base. If so now would be the time to repot.

Hi Roberta,
Thank you for your reply. I will divide it just divide it into 2 plants. I do need to water more bit worried about getting rot if I spray it.
