I don't get into it that much. Just not my jam. When I got my first Beallara I researched just enough to be dangerous and took the first couple of bits as gospel.
Travaldo's blog site: Beallara orchid also called as Aliceara, the nothogenus for intergeneric hybrids between the orchid genera Brassia, Cochlioda, Miltonia and Odontoglossum. To achieve this cross breeders usually cross Miltassia (Miltonia x Brassia) with Odontodia (Odontoglossum x Cochlioda). AOS: Beallara (bee-ul-AH-rah) A former hybrid genus derived from Brassia, Cochlioda, Miltonia and Odontoglossum, it was created in 1970 and named after Beall's Nursery. With the reorganization of the Onciidinae, this hybrid genus now becomes Aliceara.I think Beallara, now Aliceara, are synonymous. And I don't have the patience to keep up with all the naming, renaming those silly taxonomists run around doing. It messes up my labels and spreadsheet. I have little patience for it. |
Odontoglossum was lumped into Oncidium. A lot of genera were caved out of Oncidium. Ada was partly merged into Brassia.

Thank you for all answers.
I am aware of the changes of ononatology although i decided to keep the old ones. For instance Odontoglossum Crispum which has been turn to oncidium Alexandrae will not really be okey with oncidium care. Of course someone could say that there is cool and warm oncidiums.. but personally i like the old names for now. And yes it need some patient to looking into hybrids and genera tree but i just have fun of that. Trying to find percentages of every genus in the hybrid and adjust my care for them. I also have only oncidiinae orchids so i get into deeper on them.. |

All I do now is just add in the new/latest name in brackets on my spreadsheet. The labels stay as they were when they came to my care. |
