I've had my larger psychopsis for 3 years. It was potted in the middle when I bought it. It was happy that way. It stayed centered in the pot.
---------- Post added at 05:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:17 PM ---------- Roberta and SouthPark are right. It is a sympodial orchid and may show grow in one direction or another. Start in the center and adjust if needed. But if you are potting this in a larger pot it could be a couple of years or more before it needs repotting. |
My advice, for what it’s worth... put in the middle of the pot and move forward. We’re not talking Blc. The psycopsis grows VERY slowly.

Many thanks for your responses! Thankfully all along the same lines. In the center it will go!

Need to share how well my hildos baby is growing after being with me for less than a month & despite a repotting. So pleased. Keep up the good work little one!

Hi friends,
It is now August and the growth point has made some significant progress! The larger leaf on the right is newest. If you go back a couple posts, you can see a photo of how little it was in June! I just want to ask, is it getting too much light? The leaf pattern is coming out more dark, but so far no burn (-- note-- that little "hole" on the left leaf was already there when it came from Hausermann). I recently moved and it is growing in a southeast window, with about 5-6 hours of direct sun. Bright all other hours too. It has been in this window for about a month & it is beautiful, but I'd hate to be giving too much sun. No signs of burn yet, just dark mottling coming out. Thanks! Natalie |
I looks like it is doing great! And it appears to be tolerating the bright light just fine. Unless the seasonal sun shift suddenly blasts it, I don't see any reason to worry. And if anything, take advantage of the sun while you have it. The autumnal equinox is less than a month away!

Thanks, Roberta! It looks happy (and pretty). But man, is it a thirsty one! It gets watered nearly everyday.
I wonder when this guy will reach blooming size. I can't even begin to understand how it will spike. Hopefully someday!!!!! |
