my NoID oncidium
have I got this right~~~~~~~~~
Onc. can grow well in Semi Hydro, may need closer watch and more water than Phals. Saturate with weak nutrient, leave 10 min or less, drain then rewater with fertilizer. I use 20-20-20 1/4 strength.

They need about the same temp requirement as a Phal?
Light--bright, filtered sun or very little direct sun or none. My Onc has 3 p-bulbs, leaves healthy, one new bulb non rippled, other two have some but leaves look good. Each pbulb has 2 or 3 leaves. longest leaf is 6 inches and 1 1/2 inch wide. Stem is 24 inches about with branching and a total of 9 blooms. Some one said it might grow into a much larger plant. Can Oncidiums that start that small stay smaller than a regular Onc.?
When I took it out of volcanic rock in a 2.25 inch square pot and put in 3 inch clear with holes an S/H the roots were as I was told to expect, very thin, but I could not clearly see if there was any root rot. If there was, after I got all the lava rock off the roots I could, I decided to quickly repot and water.
I plan to watch it closely for a month, recheck the roots with magnification. as I have macular degeneration..dry type, but with some acuity in vision lost.
Is a month too long to leave in semi. What if there was some root rot I missed last night when I repotted? will it damage the plant?
