Midwest Dangerous windchills and temps
Today is a day that I wonder why my spouse and I don't where the winters are not so cold.
For the next two to three days they just should put up a sign that says that the Hawkeye state is closed until further notice. Public school are not holding classes due to the weather. Two of the state run universities have called off classes Wednesday and Thursday due to the dangerous windchills (-25 to -50 F) with a record low of -20F for tomorrow morning.
For the rest of you that live in the Midwest stay safe during this Canadian Vortex and think positive. Its only 50 or so days until Spring.
And if that oversized Rat in Pennsylvania says 6 more weeks of winter I'm going shoot that Whistle Pig.

Fond memories of chipping ice off the walks, shoveling snow and knocking down 10 foot long icicles so the postman would approach the house. Can't believe I gave it up.
Also don't blame it on Canada!

Well I have to drive 45 minutes to work each way. So I get it. The windows are frozen, but the orchids are warm and so is my heart, stay safe everyone.

The last couple of days have been tough, but the next couple will be much worse. Tomorrow's high will remain below zero, actual temperature, with major wind chills. Our governor has declared a state of emergency for the entire state, as have a few others. Everyone, please be safe.

The USPS announced that for Minnesota, Iowa, western Illinois and eastern Nebraska there will be no mail delivery due to cold
Oops I forgot Wisconsin. No mail delivery for them either.

We had freezing rain last night so everything is a sheet of ice. Yuck! I tried salting everything but it might be too cold for the salt to be very effective. Now it is snowing. Just great.

CluelessMW: My spouse also mentioned moving south. However, it's below zero there too. This would mean leaving my work and relationships. It's suppose to be 40f Sunday, hang in there and the weather will change. -18f this morning.

Got up this morning to -9F. They're saying the wind chill is around -35F. I am shocked to see the US maps this morning, showing the extent of below zero temps as well as the much larger area of below freezing temps. Yes, southern Arizona is sounding really good about now. Mail delivery has been suspended in much of Michigan, too.
P.S. My short-coated dogs are not happy at all. Of course, they have to go outside to do their business, but I worry about them. They're both seniors with cardiac issues. They do have parkas, but their feet and a lot of other areas are totally exposed to the cold. They're not wasting any time out there. They come back in pretty quick!
