What causes this discoloration on tillandsia?
I have probably maybe a dozen tillandsia plants. And many of them have developed this discoloration on their leaves. What causes this? They get air circulation plenty of light and I soak them every 4 days with super mild tillandsia fertilizer. My house temps are between 66 and 70 through fall winter and early spring.

I wish I could help you but my only purpose in growing these is that I thought they would look pretty cool on a wreath. Appropriately, the care I give them is not up to the same standards as yours. Mine are lucky if I remember to spray them with distilled water every day and fertilize once a month...or once every two or three months. Soaking them never happens and they probably would not get the fertilizer if someone had not bought it for me. I hope someone else will give you the advice you need on these. :|

Is the discoloration mostly on one side of the plant (assuming that the orientation stays the same between waterings)? The discoloration, particularly on the first plant, looks like sunburn to me. Where they perhaps shaded in the summer but now getting direct sun now that the season has changed?

Definitely not. For the past two years, except for a few that I rotted, mine have pretended to be fake as there has been no growth, no blooms and no pups. Yes, if these were rotting, I would have recognized it.

how much light to they get? mine like lots of light got them under a 24" led and they are now doing great. I use a light fertilizer in their dip and once a week as a mist.

The ones in the pictures that I showed you are in a Southern window, just off my deck, but it only gets son about 4 or 5 hours a day because I live sort of in a forest if you will. They get really good light. But not too strong. I'm thinking it's either disease or cold. Since I've been soaking them and keeping a really good record their growth has expounded but these weird patches have bothered me for quite some time. I don't know what causes it. This is the first time since I've ever grown to lancias that I've kept at strict's watering schedule and they seem to be really enhanced by this except for these patches again. It's either from cold or disease I cannot figure out anything else.

No the marks aren't just on one side they seem to be all around the plant. And they get bright indirect light. So I don't think I can be sunburned...

So do you think I shouldn't soak them? Just dunk them quickly? And reading about the care of tillandsia is, I have read and seen videos of them being soaked for 15 to 20 minutes two to three times a week. So I have been soaking mine every 3 to 4 days for about 10-15 minutes. Some of them or most of them actually are fine. Just this handful of ones with odd discoloration spots on them.
