Thanks ya'll!
I just came back from a vacation in the Monterey, California area. Iceplant was introduced there many years ago, and is now an invasive pest. Those that are trying to return coastal dunes to native vegetation have to first get rid of the iceplant! I didn't realize it's in the Sedum family, I think I'll pass on that one.
Otherwise, thanks for the encouragement and information, a small collection (no iceplant) is starting now!
I have a small area that is partly shaded, with room for some pots. It gets watered regularly, but has some snails and is available to the javelina. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks all!
