Thanks ya'll!
I just came back from a vacation in the Monterey, California area. Iceplant was introduced there many years ago, and is now an invasive pest. Those that are trying to return coastal dunes to native vegetation have to first get rid of the iceplant! I didn't realize it's in the Sedum family, I think I'll pass on that one.
Otherwise, thanks for the encouragement and information, a small collection (no iceplant) is starting now! I have a small area that is partly shaded, with room for some pots. It gets watered regularly, but has some snails and is available to the javelina. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks all!

Shade and sedums don't generally go together.

Thanks Dolly, but in Arizona there are very few non-natives that will really grow in full sun. Any nursery grown plants that are marked as "full sun" still get partial shade in my yard, otherwise they're dead within days. Of course that's what makes the "real" desert plants so fun--they don't grow well anywhere else!
PS, Estacion, please post them some pictures!

Ice plants are not in the same family as Sedum (Crassulaceae.) They're in their own family, Aizoaceae. The perennial ice plants are not invasive, except a few right on the coast. They aren't invasive anywhere else. One weedy winter-rainfall annual species is a problem in the low desert.

A little follow up post here. Last night the javelina de-potted the sedum. Didn't eat it, just popped it out of the pot. So it's a little beat up, but I think I can just re-plant and carry on. Since they didn't eat it, can sedum go on the list of "javelina-resistant plants"?
