I put these in as young plants last spring. No blooms last summer- a big disappointment, since I thought they were annuals. To my surprise, they came back and bloomed this spring/summer.
I love the colors, and the twisty way the flower closes when the bloom is finished. Lots of seed pods this year too. Looking for a bumper crop next season.
I have these as well. Very rewarding plants and grow easily from seed - I believe they do need vernalisation to germinate, not sure of the minimum temperature required.

Expect we'll get to whatever minimum is required. We've been down in the teens off and off last couple of winters. Oh, and also up in the 70s in February. But that's NC for ya.
Cool to hear that you have them also. Does your foliage stand up? The leaves of mine list hard toward the ground. I've been considering ways to get them to stand up better.
