Whew! Mine finished awhile back. My Iris aren't blooming yet but the bRedbuds are holding due to the cool weather. My Pearl bush (Exochorda) and Deutzia Chardonnay Pearls are blooming now.

I am going that way today. I wonder if mine is starting to berry up. Of course, the Robins pick it clean instantly!

Looks in the rose (apple) family - I think at least some are supposed to be good to eat?

A good serviceberry is a truly wondrous fruit. My mother has an 'Autumn Brilliance' which in addition to the obvious is renowned for its fruit quality as well. Seedgrown canadensis and stolonifera tend towards better quality fruit. Two seasons ago I discovered several mature alnifolia about 1/2 mile from my house and thus far the fruit from those has been for the birds. All seed, bland taste. Last year was a terrible year as we had a dry spell while the fruit should have been maturing and most of it was aborted.

Yes. In the rose family. The fruit are tasty but not quick to pick and usually the birds are done in a day. Ours are A. Autumn Brilliance. Perfect under the power lines.
