That really is a very nice image of that Golden Haired lichen.

It was also interesting that this plant goes so far back into the Plant Kingdom.

I have a funckiana -- no where near the size of yours but since I have it in a terrarium I'm okay with not having to worry about it outgrowing the space. Always found the name amusing.

Hi Paul.

There is a smaller form of T. funckiana that is a much nicer plant to me and does not get die back from the base of the plant like that happens to the larger form as shown here.

The small form would suit terrariums growing very nicely. Have a lot of the small form growing because they are just so attractive.

Have been trying to get some T. aeranthos the smaller variety or minitures as they are of great interest to me.

So I have some normal size T. aeranthos and they have grown very well here but do not have them in any numbers because they look so much like T. bergeri and T. bergeri grows heaps quicker here and flower a whole lot easier than T. aeranthos.

Looked at all the minitures of T. aeranthos and I found it very interesting. There seems to be 3 smaller varieties being T. aeranthos miniata 5cm or 2", T. aeranthos minime 4cm or 11/2" & T. aeranthos miniminime 2.5cm or 1" being the smallest. They also are hard plants to get to flower but do not need to flower for them to pup. These miniatures are said to pup very easily as well.

Have just purchased a number to see their condition and they are just what I am looking for and have increased their in coming numbers.

Tillandsia crocata is a plant that grows well here. These plants I have got at a very good price. They are high scented still after being unpacked yesterday. Great to be able to get 180 small plants.

Ready to hang them from the roof of the bush house.

The USA zones showing the different climates in different parts of the US has been a point of confusion as I have not got the detailed information of the different climate zones to put it all into perspective. So I do searches to get an idea of what is going on in some of the posts when they mention a zone #.

The latest search for US climate zones information found this link for Australia. With a brief example of the same zones in the US.

My position is at the extreme bottom of the yellow zone 5 on the east coast. Right on top of the coast as close as you can get. It is the very small island below the larger, small island at the very bottom of the yellow zone. It states we have a low of 5c or 41f. But I believe we are a bit warmer than this in winter here. We very rarely go under 10c or 50f.
