Tillandsia recurvifolia var. subsecundifolia
Species, Brazil.
See also T. leonamiana, these two plant labels are often swapped, particularly in US and other imports.

Tillandsia recurvifolia var subsecundifolia This is the orange flowering plant and has been broken down into 24 very nice clumps to grow on.

No purple or blue in this plants flower. The purple flower we call in Australia via Germany is T. leonamiana. Interesting bit of history about the America notation v Germany notation on these two plants being the opposite to each other.

The weather has warmed very quickly. Just inland from here where you get away from the sea breeze temps get very hot and 35c or 95f are exceeded over the next 9 hot months just inlanda bit from here.

From Sep to June we have a great amount of cooling N/E salt winds that have really healthy seaweed smell in the salt wind. The airplant food that the salt winds give my Tillandsia/airplants is eminence and they show it.

Then there is the time the beneficial storm season feeds the Tillandsia's as well. So many pups in this weather.

This sea breeze cools the Tillandsia down to the point that they flower many times per year here.

For a great many Tillandsia the seabreeze climate here is perfect for aggressively growing many Tillandsia's. They are just so healthy and robust.

New Plant.

Tillandsia Ionantha Crested Form Cluster-Ionantha Cristate.

There is some confusion about this plant will turn to a different shape all together while puping. How unstable this cross is not fully known to me. Great info from Japan notations. Stating pups will revert back to Tillandsia monstrose.

Seem to be more than rare this one. It grows well in my climate. Search this plant is not showing up much.

Interesting to see how this cluster will break down into smaller clumps so as to grow them on.

Starting to slowly get more harder to come by Tillandsia's.

Have broken down this Tillandsia ionantha cristate clump(image above) into 4 nice size clumps and all goes well with them showing good signs of growth.

When I broke this clump up the 2 smaller clump lost a lot of leaves and I thought I had destroyed them but new growth has come out of the middle of these clumps to my great relief. It all seems to be back to front. It looks like the puping takes place from the middle of this plant.

It was very hard to discern where the puping had taken place but feel I have nailed it instead of destroying them.

Next time I brake up one of these clumps I will use a razer sharp knife to do the work. Lesson learnt!

Very interesting Tillandsia!

On eBay I purchased a Tillandsia clump and got 5 single plants.

Have complained and the seller tells me that this is classified as a clump. No mounting, no tieing everything together just 5 single plants.

Have found that clumps grow heaps quicker than singles.

The plants have been cut from a clump to keep the growing base in place.

The image makes it look like a clump as well.

Have referred everything to paypal as a claim case.

The weather is the mildest its been here for decades and the Tillandsia's are loving it.

The only worry is we are very over due for a tropical low pressure weather events. 20 years since our last cyclone where we live here.

All the Tillandsia grow in size and most have many pups.

Jan 2018 looks to be a great month for buying the harder to get Tillandsia in very reasonable numbers to grow on.
