Tillandsia House Air Plants Lichens

I do not have it but I really like it. I like all of them, actually.

When I bring in my plants for autumn, I will take a picture of my wreaths. I like to document the growth, anyway.

I really enjoy seeing all your air plants. I do not have many different types (~15) but I really, really love them. I bought straminea in hopes that it will be fragrant though I think at least one of my mystery air plants have had fragrant blooms (I smelled a fragrance did not find anything but the air plant in bloom.). Have you noticed any of yours being fragrant?

Great to hear you like your Tillandsia. They go very well with orchids!

Some of the scented Tillandsia can have a strong scent one flowering and the next flowering no scent at all.

Two scented Tillandsia that I very much like are T. crocata and T. mallemontii. Both very easy to grow here.

To help with smelling the scent of Tillandsia is to put a bunch of plants with flowers on them in a small box over night and next morning open the box to the best scent smell.

If you could replicate their smell you would be onto something very special. Do not really get into perfumes but one I smelt last year was a vanilla smell. Light and delicate just like scented Tillandsia.

Having a bit of trouble identifying the difference between T. bergeri and T. aeranthos.

This image should be a T. bergeri and it does have the lighter coloured purple flower. So am calling it T. bergeri.

The confusion is all my other T. bergeri have an area at their base that have dead leaves or/and a bare stem at base. This example does not fit into this description.

Really like this Tillandsia. It flowers last for months. This flower is about 6 weeks old.

Wow! How spectacular! The variety of these continues to amaze me! I made a note of the fragrant ones you mentioned. I do not have those. I am going to do an order in a couple of months as this group has done well for me so I am ready to venture into some new varieties.

I wish I had found a way to label my air plants when putting them on the wreaths. I took pictures of them with their names but a few look very similar and I am not experienced enough to tell some of them apart. That will be the next wreath.
I will try to take pictures of my little collection soon to post.

For ID and more info I like this link. It does not have all Tillandsia but it a good start when trying to ID our plants. When I purchase from my wholesaler nothing is labeled so it soon teaches you how to ID a plant very quickly.

Mine did come labeled and I took pictures of them with the labels but a few of them look so similar to me that I really cannot distinguish them (I just do not have enough experience with air plants). The fuzzy Tillandsia Tectorum is never a problem, though.

Purchased a number of very small T. streptophylla back in 2014. This example is the largest. Most of the rest are about 3/4 of the size of one image. Maybe close to flowering?

That's some serious growth. Maybe you will see some flowering in the near future. I have one that was acquired in Mexico as a small seedling. Still manage to keep it going after 10 years... no where near the size of yours (although it has never seen sunlight under my care - grown under artificial lighting).

Flowered 2 years ago and produced two pups. Put on quite a show (and it took awhile to transform into full flower mode, with a really nice blush and a purplish hue in the leaves). The leaves of this plant have always remained wide and curly (even when the plant is fully watered/hydrated). Don't want to hijack your thread, but if you want to see a picture of the plant, let me know and I'll insert one. I lost a lot of my flowering photos when photobucket decided to start their strong-arm $ tactics awhile back.
