Default Cyanella hyacinthoides

Hello everybody!

I am sorry, this thread is not an Orchid thread.
Last Summer, I got a Cyanella hyacinthoides bulb.

I planted it in Soil. It got roots and 4 new shoots were growing during the winter.

Now, after the winter the leaves are weak, because there was not enough light.

Is it possible to let them grow outside now? The temperatures are about 41-50°F. Does frost in the night kill the plant?, because I have read, that Cyanella loves it cold in the Winter.

Cann you help me?
Greets

Sebastian

No need for apologizes - that is why we have this off-topic forum - purposefully for non-orchid plants and stuff
I can't help you with this plant but thanks for posting it .. hopefully someone here is familiar with it

It's a very sweet flowering plant - Cyanella hyacinthoides

From the pics it's a beauty...though I like the foliage almost more than the flower...

I have never heard of this one, though I do have quite a few "bulbs" from S. Africa (clivia, haemanthus, boophane, etc) all of them share a common cultural aspect in that they like a cool dry rest period in the winter. Figure on very little water from the end of October until the beginning of February, and night temps in the mid 40's (with day temps in the mid 50's or slightly above) When you again begin to water, water thoroughly and let the plant dry before watering it again--most of my bulbs will show rapid greening/growth after this initial waking watering, and can then be watered as usual. *If in February you are unable to provide warmer days for the bulb (let's say 60F on the low side), hold off the waking process until you get warmer days. It won't hurt the bulb at all, but it will delay flowering.
Again, this is just general culture for the Cape bulbs that I have, I don't grow the species that you have...but cultivation for most of the Cape bulbs is more or less the same. One other thing, make sure that whatever it is planted in is sharp draining--water should run freely from the media.
Hope this is of some help,
Adam

First, thank you! !

After I read, that they need mineral Potting Material, I potted them in SERAMIS. Do you in the USA know "Seramis"?

It are clay pellets, which hold, save a lot of Water and air.

I have an Epipremnum in there and it grows like weed(pest plant). IT Loves it!

I think, I will water it once a week and fertilize it once in 2weeks., My problem is, by potting the young plants seperately in pots, I damaged the roots , they broke.

I hope, that they will produce new roots.

Can you give me more advice, please, Thank you a lot
