Reverse Osmosis help
Hello all,
I've been toying with the idea of getting a RO system for my apartment. The reasons are primarily because our water is horrible. Our britta filters need constant replacement. They were not really doing the job well and we noticed we were all getting stomach aches regularly until we switched to bottled water.
The other reason is I figured I could cure two problems, since by having RO water I would have an excellent source of water for my orchids and other plants, and tropical fish, amphibians etc... I know, it wasn't until it my family's health was a factor that I decided to actually think about RO.
So I have been looking at US Water Systems. They seem good. They sell this thing called Cobalt Hyper-Safe, which claims to kill bacteria. If RO is so pure, wouldn't the bacteria lyse anyway??

So what systems do you use, and do you have any problems? Thanks all!

Cesar, don't get ripped off.
RO systems can remove much of the bacteria loading in your water as-is.
If you're looking for a complete residential system - 100 gallon/day, 5 stage RO system, with tank and faucet, I will sell you the same thing for $100 less than their "sale price", and will throw in a filter housing wrench, QC tool, food-grade silicone grease, two years' worth of replacement filters, and a jar of MSU RO fertilizer at no additional charge.
If your water supply is not chlorinated, you may cut costs by doing away with the second carbon filter, and ordering a 4-stage unit.
If you are serious about this, give me a call and we can discuss it in detail. I've been using RO systems for about 25 years and building them for 20.

Sounds good Ray. I will have to talk it over with my better half see if RO is something she is willing to do.

I've been using Ray's countertop RO system for a couple of years. Easy to use and the orchids love the water.
