Default Hoyas!

Hello everyone!!

I just purchased my first Hoyas!!!!
I'm so excited! I fell in love with them after i saw a video of them on brads greenhouse ( youtube).

I purchased a Hoya Carnosa and a Hoya Compacta from gardino nursery in Florida. Enter website at your own risk! You are going to want everything!!

I also got a Dichrostachys Cinerea, Rabbits Foot Acacia. Which is a unique tree that can grow outside in my environment. Always a plus for me as i live in the Desert. And i also got a Jasminum Sambac ' Grand Duke Supreme'.

Cool, I just have one which I think is Carnosa but I'm not sure as it was just a cutting from one my Mum has (and she doesn't know more than Hoya). Such a great scent when it flowers

Mine is very fragrant, very sweet. It can get a bit over-powering if there are a lot umbels open at once, but I love it. My mum has hers in her enclosed front porch it climes all over one wall on a trellis, when it's in flower (which is most of the time) the porch smells wonderful every time you go in/out the front door

Mine hasn't flowered in a few years. I think I don't have it in a bright enough spot. My orchids get most of the windowledge spots, I'm trying by the back patio doors just now (south-west facing) in the hope it gets some more there.

I don't know much past plain old Hoya either, but I just started some from an old plant from my neighbors where I use to do in home health care.

I need to re-pot them into one pot. I really don't know that much about them, however I'm guessing bright indirect light right?

Good hoyas you have there Plodde! Just protect them from our intense direct sun here in Cali. Give them part shade and stepped up watering during our hot, summer days.

Did your area get the recent rains? I wish we would get some rains..still hoping..all my plants will love some rain!

I was going to ask you the same thing even before i saw you asked me!

YES!!! two days of on and off rain with thunder storms. I LOVED it!! even stood outside for about an hour basking in the cool temps ( still 75degrees) and rain.
I wanted to put all my orchids outside so get some fresh rain water but was too lazy. too many orchids to move.

Very cool plants. Beautiful flowers and some with very attractive foliage. You do know that once it blooms it will continue to bloom from that same flower spur again and again? I think most are nicely scented, too.
