Yikes Jo Ann! You win!!!!! I have never been anywhere near a tornado, never mind a morning comute to work with one looming all around....holy cows....batman! Now I would have stayed home from work, I think. I am a total chicken driving in snowstorms and sleet conditions. I never use to be when I was younger. I think I am like a cat with nine lives and think I've experienced maybe 7 of the 9. I err on the side of caution now.
Are you a Stephen King fan???? I noticed your quote at the bottom. kiki

A few years ago, two tornadoes touched down in
Springfield, one, less than a mile from our home. It tore the roofing off of our neighbors house and threw it against our siding, topped the neighbor's tree behind us, dropped all kinds of limbs out of the trees in our front yard and scared the hell out of my wife and myself. We were watching the weather report, and the weatherman, whose name is Gus, but I call Guess says, "Well, the storm has just about passed us." At that point, the TV went off and all of the sudden, it sounded like a train. We got to an inner part of the house (where there was the most protection) and rode it out. They were working on rebuilding for months here in Springfield.

It was pretty wild
There was one suburb near us where they had National Guard to keep everyone who didn't live there out. Atleast a couple of places were looted.

Hi Kiki,
On the day of the ride from hell I heard an enormous explosion sound a couple of minutes after my alarm went off it literally shook the house (and no my husband didn’t hear a thing) that morning so I staggered to the computer with my coffee to see what was up on the weather and it was flashing tornado warning…yes I did go back and forth thinking should I go to work or not…?actually when I reached the detour I didn’t know that a tornado had hit I just saw a couple of big trucks turned over on the road I assumed it was a car accident. On my way home when it was light and I could drive my normal route is when I saw the damage. I kept thinking to myself what if I had drove through that area just a little bit earlier....
I’m not a big fan of snow packed roads either… I once had an old Oldsmobile Toronado that I drove.. that car was built like a tank it could also seat about 15 people..lol.. it would go through the snow with no problem I was laughing one time because everyone else in there nice NEW cars were sliding and thrown over into the side of the road and me and my old tank were going up Farmington hill outside of Durango with no problems…listening to the music on the radio.. .. LOL
….yup I’m a Stephen King fan I like a good horror story …I used to read a lot of him when I was a kid…course now I have real life to cope with and nothing could be scarier then that...

Ol Guess doesn't have a clue, huh? Tornados are so dangerous. They would scare me to death.
We have a saying about the weather here in Maine: "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute." It is soooooo true! kiki

Search for the tornado that hit Moore, OK. in 1999 on YouTube... strongest winds ever recorded on earth. That is probably one of the most terrifying experiences I could imagine!!!!

I heard the west side was was one large traffic jam, because of all the gawkers. that really tics me off the way some people come running when there is a disaster like that. the emergency services couldn't even get through.

Just the thought of a tornado scares the hell out of me!
I'll take rain and snow any day if it means I can avoid high winds!
