Anyone Grow Veggies? Male
Default It will be quite some time before I will be ready

to plant a garden. I like almost anything except parsnips, turnips and rutabegas. Unfortunately, I don't have that much room. I will plant a tomato or two, some spinach and lettuce and rely on the Farmer's Market for the rest.

I wish I could plant a garden! A couple of years ago I tried a couple tomatoes in pots but my yard is way too shady. Everyday I would move them around to various sun spots but things just didn't go well. My yard is FULL of oak and maple trees so not much will grow. It stinks for me because at my old place I had tons of flower gardens and loved tinkering around out there. Now I have to try and find shade loving plants and there is no comparison. I agree that there is nothing like a homegrown tomatoe. I could live on them!

p.s. Dave, Tux is
so handsome!

Default Yes, you are correct if you have that much shade

growing tomatoes would be impossible. They are one of the veggies that need full sun. That is to say that they need 6-8 hours of sunshine per day.
