Pink Cactus & Ping in Bloom!
Default Pink Cactus & Ping in Bloom!

I bought this cactus two weeks ago as it showed lots of nicely colored buds all over. Now it is in full glory and I love it!!!

My ping has started its year around blooming season. Yay!

Maybe you have a different type of ping?
Mine bloomed for many months last year, and then now it is blooming again.

The downside is that the leaves are not that sticky anymore. I wonder if my condition is too dry for it.
Then this leads me to think if I need to somehow fertilize to keep it healthy.
I caught some bugs and tried to attach on the leaves, but they won't take them. Simply not sticky enough to hold them. Something is wrong, although it is flowering good.

As I understand it Pings have non-sticky growth during winter dormancy, then they put up new sticky leaves in the growing season. That's what mine has seemed to do each year and it's just starting it's new leaves from what I can see.

Also I think pings need bright light or they loose the stickiness. I move mine around the house to keep it in the room with the most fungus gnats around, but if it's too long in the darker rooms I have to move it back to a bright windowledge for a while.

Is that right? Good to know, because I thought my condition was just too dry for them.

Mine is getting plenty light in the south window.
I think it's part of the reason why it's been growing and flowering so much!

Plus, I thought it was also part of the blame for non-sticky leaves.
Will see.

I wonder if I have to divide them as they are self divided into five parts on its own from a small one growth plant in May last year when I bought it.
Quite the money value for just one year. and it was free as well. hahaha

I just ordered a ping. The seller said to keep the pot in a saucer of water. Can't wait to see it. Here is some info I was reading about their care.
