Thanks all for the kind comments. Migration is really picking up and I hope to share more soon.
Yes I have gotten to see allot of amazing things living in the country. One day I was walking the dogs heard the strangest sound looked up and there were 2 Bald Eagles, I think mating. I just laid down on the hill on my back and watched. It was so cool they were dipping and diving and making sounds I had never heard before.

Thanks for the wonderful pictures of the birds I am enjoying them. I think I get some little yellow ones. I think there Warblers but not 100% sure. They kind of pass through.

Default The Cerulean Warbler

Hi all,

The Cerulean Warbler is a favourite of many for its colours as well as its rarity. The species unfortunately has lost 70% of population due to loss of wintering habitat in Colombia and Venezuela and loss of breeding grounds in the Northeast of the United States. Conservation efforts are on the way in Colombia by reforesting and creating forested corridors for birds to pass between natural reserves.
Also, here in its NY breeding grounds (Bear Mountain) there is a silent danger. The forest has no understory due to over-predation by White-tailed deer. None of the trees can successfully reproduce since saplings are promptly eaten before reaching a good height. If a fire were to pass the entire forest would be lost. Even if a fire never were to occur, the trees will eventually die out with ever being replaced. Enough of that, here is the picture I took.

Hi all,

The Warbler season was underwhelming this year, with many birds being hard to find in the canopy. Last year the birds were down low and easily seen, in large numbers. Not this year. But on some days you got lucky and here is one of those days.

This Canada Warbler, was a bit curious about me I suppose. Must have been wondering why I was showing my teeth so much (smiling). This is one of two warblers that shows a prominent "necklace" on its body. Just gorgeous!

Here is a new one for you all. The Blackpoll Warbler who's song sounds like squeaky bus breaks.
The beauty lies in its contrasts.
